A collaborative effort between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and federal partners has resulted in the apprehension of an illegally present Guatemalan national with a history of felony convictions in Massachusetts.

Byron Aroldo Charres-Giron, 41, was arrested in Framingham on February 3 by officers from ICE Boston, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Boston, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New England, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Boston.

According to ICE officials, Charres-Giron had illegally entered the United States on an unknown date and at an unknown location, without undergoing inspection, admission, or parole by a U.S. immigration official. Multiple felony convictions in Framingham further complicated his presence in the country, according to ICE.

“Byron Aroldo Charres-Giron broke the law by illegally entering the United States and has habitually broken the law in Massachusetts since settling in our region,” stated Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston. “Every one of his convictions represents another victimized member of our community, and ICE Boston will not tolerate such behavior on our streets. We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders like Charres-Giron.”

Court records indicate that Charres-Giron’s criminal history includes a conviction on September 27, 2013, in Framingham District Court for concealing leased property, for which he was ordered to pay restitution.

He was again convicted in the same court on August 25, 2014, for breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and malicious destruction of property. Most recently, on August 4, 2022, the Framingham District Court convicted Charres-Giron of indecent exposure, resulting in a one-year probation sentence.

The arrest on February 3 was the culmination of a joint operation involving multiple federal law enforcement agencies, highlighting the collaborative efforts to address public safety concerns related to individuals with both immigration violations and criminal histories.
