Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) delivered a sharp rebuke to the Biden administration’s approach to combating drug cartels Wednesday during a recent Senate Judiciary Committee nomination hearing.

Simultaneously, she voiced her strong support for President Trump’s selections for leadership positions within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Moody, a former Florida Attorney General, federal prosecutor, and judge, emphasized her deep understanding of law enforcement’s challenges.

“As Florida’s former Attorney General, federal prosecutor and judge, I worked closely with law enforcement professionals and witnessed the unique sacrifice they make on a daily basis to support the safety of our communities,” she stated.

Her support was particularly evident for Terry Cole, President Trump’s nominee for DEA Administrator.

“As the wife of a former DEA Agent, I see firsthand the sacrifices that the call to serve can have on a family, and it is my honor to support this great nominee with a distinguished law enforcement career,” Moody explained. “Mr. Cole has nearly three decades of service in law enforcement, including over 20 years of service in the DEA. I have no doubt that Mr. Cole will serve with integrity and professionalism, and I am proud to support his nomination.”

In addition to Cole, Senator Moody introduced fellow Floridian Gadyaces “Gady” Serralta, nominated to be Director of the U.S. Marshals Service. Serralta brings over three decades of law enforcement experience, including six years as the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Florida. “Mr. Serralta’s extensive experience and proven leadership make him an ideal candidate to lead the U.S. Marshals Service,” Moody said during her introduction.

As a new U.S. Senator, Moody has made it clear that backing law enforcement at all levels is a priority. Her past work as Attorney General, which included collaborations with the DEA on various initiatives, has solidified her reputation as a staunch advocate for public safety.

The nomination hearings come at a critical time, as the nation grapples with the ongoing challenges of drug trafficking and border security.

Moody’s vocal support for Trump’s nominees and her sharp criticism of the current administration’s policies signal a potentially contentious confirmation process. The outcomes of these nominations could significantly impact the future direction of federal law enforcement efforts.
