CLEARWATER, Fla. – A serious traffic crash involving an SUV and a bicycle occurred Thursday night at the intersection of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Old Coachman Road, according to authorities.
Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the scene at approximately 9:29 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 52-year-old male bicyclist with critical injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the bicyclist made a turn directly into the path of an oncoming SUV at the intersection. The bicyclist was immediately transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
