LARGO, Fla. – James Bowers has been located and is safe, according to police.
ORIGINAL REPORT: The Largo Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 74-year-old man for whom a Florida Silver Alert has been activated.
Authorities are searching for James Bowers, who was last seen on Wednesday, May 1st, 2025. Police say Bowers left his residence driving a red 2014 Nissan Altima with Florida license plate number CC99CE.
Bowers is described as a black male, 5’7″ tall, and weighing approximately 130 pounds. He has short gray hair and was last seen wearing a green hat, a dark-colored t-shirt, and brown sweatpants. Mr. Bowers is missing his right leg from the knee down.

Authorities say Bowers is showing early signs of Alzheimer’s disease and may be in need of care.
His vehicle was last seen on May 1st, 2025, at 11:49 PM, traveling northbound on Interstate 95, just north of State Road 207.
The Largo Police Department urges anyone with information regarding James Bowers’ whereabouts to immediately contact them at 727-587-6730.
