TAMPA, Fla. – A section of N 21st Street between E 21st Avenue and E Columbus Drive has been closed effectively immediately to allow for emergency utility repairs, the City of Tampa’s Wastewater Department announced today.

Beginning Monday, May 5th, wastewater department crews will start work on a broken sewer mainline pipe and address a resulting cave-in that has developed over the affected area.

The southbound traffic lanes on E 21st Street are being detoured at 21st Avenue, directing motorists east and west. Detour signage and barricades have been placed on-site to guide traffic around the closure. Motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes while the repair work is underway.

The repairs and the subsequent restoration of the work area are anticipated to be completed no later than the close of business on Friday, May 9th. Following the completion of the work, normal traffic patterns are expected to resume.
