TAMPA, Fla. – A routine traffic stop escalated into a high-speed pursuit early Sunday morning, culminating in a fiery crash on the east end of the Gandy Bridge. Both the driver and the passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), an FHP Trooper on routine patrol along the Gandy Bridge observed a Toyota Supra traveling eastbound at 93 MPH in a posted 55 MPH speed zone shortly after 1:00 AM.

The Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the Supra reportedly fled, accelerating eastbound on the bridge at speeds exceeding 100 MPH.
The Trooper pursued the vehicle and successfully executed a PIT maneuver at the east end of the bridge. The maneuver caused the Supra to rotate onto the shoulder, where it collided with a light pole and subsequently caught fire.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Ramnarine of Tampa, was charged with fleeing and eluding at high speed. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.
A 32-year-old male passenger from Tampa also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
