Traffic Alert: FDOT Announces Lane Closures Across Hillsborough County Through Mid-May

Drivers in Hillsborough County should anticipate potential delays over the next week and a half due to various lane closures scheduled for maintenance and construction projects across interstate highways and major roadways.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced multiple closures impacting Interstate 4, Interstate 75, Interstate 275, US 301, US 41 Business, State Road 574 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard), and State Road 60.

The closures are scheduled primarily during overnight hours, but some daytime lane restrictions are also in effect. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra travel time, especially during peak hours or when traveling through affected areas.

Here is a breakdown of the scheduled lane closures:

Interstate 4:

  • From I-275 to Scott Street: Lane closures nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Thursday, May 15.
  • From Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to 50th Street: Westbound lane closures nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Thursday, May 14.
  • From County Line Road to McIntosh Road: Lane closures nightly from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Thursday, May 15.

Interstate 75:

  • From Progress Boulevard to Woodberry Road: Lane closures nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Friday, May 16.
  • Interchange at SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard): Lane closures nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Friday, May 16.
  • From Fowler Avenue to SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard): Southbound lane closures nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 16. (Note: This lane closure is ongoing through May 30, Monday through Friday nights).

Interstate 275 (Howard Frankland Bridge):

  • Between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties: Lane closures nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Saturday, May 17.

US 301:

  • From Wildgrass Meadow Drive to Simmons Loop: Lane closures nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Thursday, May 15.
  • At Park Creek Boulevard: Northbound lane closures nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16.

US 41 Business (Highland Avenue):

  • From Violet Street to SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard): Southbound lane closures from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16. (Note: This lane closure is ongoing through May 30, Monday through Friday).

SR 574 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard):

  • From Dale Mabry Highway to I-4: Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16.

SR 60:

  • From George J. Bean Parkway to Veterans Expressway: Westbound lane closures nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Thursday, May 15.
  • From SR 39 to Clarence Gordon Jr Road: Lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16.
  • From Clarence Gordon Jr. Road to the Polk County line: Lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 11 through Friday, May 16.

FDOT reminds drivers to obey posted speed limits, watch for construction personnel and equipment, and exercise caution when traveling through these work zones. The schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
