Citrus County Drivers To Encounter Lane Closures On Major Routes Next Week

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists in Citrus County should prepare for a series of lane closures on several key roadways next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) conducts road work. The planned disruptions will affect portions of US 19, US 41, and SR 44, beginning as early as Sunday, May 11th.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution, allow for extra travel time, and be aware of construction personnel and equipment in the work zones.

Details of the upcoming traffic alerts are as follows:

US 19:

  • Location: From S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail.
  • Day Lane Closures: Monday, May 12 through Saturday, May 17, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Night Lane Closures: Sunday, May 11 through Thursday, May 15, nightly from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

US 41:

  • Location: From SR 44 to south of the bridge over the Withlacoochee State Trail.
  • Lane Closures/Flagging Operations: Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15, nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

State Road 44:

  • Location: At the US 41 intersection.
  • Lane Closure (Eastbound Right Lane): Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15, nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Location: From US 41 to the Sumter County line (bridge over the Withlacoochee River).
  • Lane Closures: Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation urges all drivers to be alert to changing traffic patterns and to drive safely through these construction areas. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
