A new bipartisan group in the U.S. House of Representatives, dubbed the “Build America Caucus,” officially launched Thursday, aiming to tackle critical national challenges related to energy, housing, and infrastructure by focusing on streamlining regulations and accelerating construction projects.
The caucus, chaired by Democratic California Representative Josh Harder, includes nearly 30 members from across the political spectrum. Its formation was described in part as being spurred by efforts among some Democrats, including Harder, to refine their post-2024 message and address perceived governance failures in certain cities and states.
According to its introductory press release, the Build America Caucus will prioritize policies focused on growth and “abundance.” Key areas of focus include:
- Unleashing American energy through reforms to permitting processes and transmission infrastructure.
- Making housing affordable by incentivizing states and cities to increase housing supply.
- Speeding up American infrastructure projects by simplifying requirements and reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

Notably, the caucus’s stated priorities, particularly its emphasis on permitting reform, cutting “red tape,” and streamlining regulations across energy, housing, and infrastructure sectors, align closely with policy points frequently advocated by Republican lawmakers, including the Trump Administration.
“Voters have lost faith in government because they don’t see results – they see gridlock, red tape, and delay,” Harder said in the press release. “It’s time to get back to building. Housing costs are out of control, our energy grid is strained, and foreign adversaries are racing ahead in critical manufacturing. The Build America Caucus is bringing Republicans and Democrats together to deliver real, pro-growth solutions.”
Republican Representative Gus Bilirakis of Florida echoed the call for urgency and efficiency.
“It’s time to rebuild America with purpose and urgency,” Bilirakis stated. “I am proud to be a part of the Build America Caucus which will bring together bipartisan voices committed to modernizing our infrastructure, removing needless bureaucratic red tape, reducing costs and ensuring taxpayer dollars go further.”

The caucus includes a diverse roster of lawmakers, indicating an intent to bridge partisan divides on issues often bogged down by political gridlock. Members cited the need for practical solutions to lower costs, enhance competitiveness, and improve daily life for Americans.
