TAMPA, Fla. – Commuters who regularly use North 40th Street in Tampa will need to plan their routes accordingly. The Tampa Water Department has announced that starting at 9:00 AM today, Thursday, May 15, the outer southbound and outer northbound lanes will be closed between East Flora Street and East Norfolk Street.
The lane closures are necessary to allow Tampa Water Department crews to conduct essential maintenance on the water distribution system in the area.

Motorists can expect to see barricades and signage directing traffic and assisting with rerouting. Officials are urging drivers to consider alternate routes to avoid potential delays and to exercise caution when traveling through the work zone.
The Tampa Water Department says that modifications to the lane closures may be required as the work progresses.
The current schedule anticipates the completion of the maintenance and a return to normal traffic patterns by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20. However, the timeline remains subject to weather conditions.
