A devastating explosion at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs has prompted a multi-agency investigation, with federal authorities joining local law enforcement to determine the cause of the incident. The explosion, which occurred at approximately 11 a.m. local time on Saturday, heavily damaged the American Reproductive Centers clinic and resulted in one fatality.
Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills released a statement indicating that the blast “appears to be an intentional act of violence,” and confirmed that several nearby buildings sustained damage, some severely. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been released.

Law enforcement officials, speaking anonymously to the Associated Press, suggested that a car bomb may have caused the explosion. They also indicated that investigators believe the deceased individual is likely the person responsible for the explosion, but cautioned that the investigation is in its preliminary stages. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement addressing the incident, saying, “I have been briefed on the explosion at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California that took place today. Federal agents are on the ground now responding alongside local law enforcement. We are working to learn more, but let me be clear: the Trump administration understands that women and mothers are the heartbeat of America. Violence against a fertility clinic is unforgivable.”
The FBI’s Los Angeles field office confirmed via social media platform X that they are deploying “assets including investigators, bomb technicians & an evidence response team” to the scene. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is also assisting with the investigation.

Dr. Maher Abdallah, who runs the American Reproductive Centers fertility clinic, confirmed that his clinic was damaged in the explosion. He told the Associated Press in a phone interview that all clinic staff are safe and accounted for. The explosion primarily affected the clinic’s office space, where patient consultations are conducted, while the IVF lab and stored embryos remained unharmed. “I really have no clue what happened,” Abdallah said. “Thank God today happened to be a day that we have no patients.”
Aerial footage from the scene revealed a burned-out car in a parking lot behind the clinic’s office building. The explosion caused significant structural damage, including a collapsed roof and debris scattered across a sidewalk and nearby street.
The city of Palm Springs urged residents to avoid the area around North Indian Canyon Drive near East Tachevah Drive as investigators continue their work. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
