New Port Richey Man Struck And Killed On Plathe Road Overnight

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – A 58-year-old New Port Richey man died late Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on Plathe Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident occurred at approximately 10:05 PM. Troopers say that a 30-year-old man from Holiday was driving a Buick Century eastbound on Plathe Road. East of the intersection with Acropolis Lane, the New Port Richey man was reportedly walking in or across the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle.

Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a local area hospital for treatment of his injuries, but the man later succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the names of either individual involved in the crash.
