A South Carolina woman has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime following a welfare check that led to the discovery of a deceased person.

On Friday, May 16, 2025, Horry County Police officers responded to a location on Dinger Court in the Burgess area of Horry County to conduct a welfare check on an individual. Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual covered in blood, identified as Joyanna Vansant, 53, who does not reside at the location.
