The University of Florida Gators men’s basketball team, fresh off their 2025 NCAA Championship victory, received a hero’s welcome in the nation’s capital today, being honored with a Senate Resolution and visiting the White House.
Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) proudly presented the Gators with a Senate Resolution commending their historic achievement. The resolution, sponsored by Senator Moody, celebrated the Gators’ hard-fought 65-63 triumph over the University of Houston Cougars in April, securing the program’s third national title since 2006.

“The University of Florida men’s basketball team has represented the Sunshine State proudly, and I was honored to present this team with a resolution during their visit to Washington, D.C. to commend them for this major accomplishment,” Senator Moody stated. A three-time graduate of the University of Florida herself, Senator Moody added, “It is always wonderful to have Floridians visit the Capitol, and as a three-time graduate of the University of Florida, it was exciting joining my fellow Gator fans and Floridians to celebrate the champions accomplishing such a momentous goal. Congratulations once again to the team and, as always, Go Gators!”
The resolution specifically highlighted key player performances that propelled the Gators to victory. Walter Clayton Jr. was recognized for his outstanding play throughout the tournament, earning him the Most Outstanding Player award.
Additionally, Will Richard was acknowledged for leading the Gators with an impressive 18 points in the championship game.

Adding to the celebratory day, President Trump extended an invitation to the University of Florida Men’s Basketball team to visit the White House, recognizing their monumental achievement in collegiate sports. The visit underscores the team’s remarkable journey and their place in NCAA basketball history.
