Get your rods and reels ready! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is inviting residents and visitors to cast a line during two upcoming license-free fishing weekends this June.

These popular events offer a perfect opportunity for seasoned anglers to share their passion and for beginners to experience the thrill of fishing in the Sunshine State without needing to purchase a license.

This summer’s license-free fishing opportunities are:

  • Saltwater: Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8
  • Freshwater: Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15

People of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to take advantage of these special weekends. While the requirement for a fishing license is waived, it’s important to note that all other fishing regulations, including seasons, bag limits, and size limits, will remain in effect.

The FWC encourages all aspiring and active anglers to familiarize themselves with responsible fishing practices. For those new to the sport or looking for a refresher, the FWC’s fishing basics webpage offers valuable tips and information to help get started.

To make the most of these weekends, anglers can explore the FWC website (MyFWC.com) to find prime freshwater and saltwater fishing locations, as well as access to boat ramps and fishing piers nearby.

For those who wish to continue fishing throughout the year, licenses can be easily renewed or purchased at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com.
