Mother Nature Could Not Dampen Tampa Bay Rays Yard Sale

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – When is a rainy morning a good morning for a yard sale? Why, of course, Saturday morning in a parking lot at Tropicana Field. Mother Nature could not dampen the enthusiasm of Rays fans looking forward to the shopping spree, which opened to season ticket holders at 10 a.m. and the general public an hour later.

Many of the t-shirts, hats, and bobbleheads that were given away in recent years, and whatever else could be found inside the Trop, filled table after table under two tents.

Attendees, many of whom lined up well before 10 a.m., purchased bags for $20 apiece. Bags were filled, or overfilled, with as many items as possible. If someone purchased a bag and filled it with, for example, two caps, two bobbleheads and two shirts, then they made out very well for twenty bucks.

All proceeds from the yard sale, which went until 2 p.m., benefitted the Rays Foundation, the team’s charitable arm.

With prep work to repair Tropicana Field beginning later this month, the idea was for the team to host a yard sale in the hope of getting rid of as much as possible. After all, interior spaces as well as the roof were damaged by Hurricane Milton.

More items were available Saturday than fans would have seen at the annual fanfest. Indeed, it was a good day for fans who may have missed a Don Zimmer or Evan Longoria bobblehead giveaway date, or simply desired to pick up a Rays hat, t-shirt or any of the seemingly countless other items available.
