Florida Keys Brawl: Two Accused In Shelter Stabbing

Two Florida Keys men were arrested Saturday evening following a violent altercation at a Marathon shelter that left a third man with apparent stab wounds. Dionisio Cisnero Cisneros, 64, of Marathon, and Bryan Javier Cisneros, 33, of Big Pine Key, were both charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and battery.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Independence Cay shelter in Marathon at approximately 8:10 p.m. after receiving a report of a battery.

Deputies arrived to find an adult male victim outside the shelter, bleeding heavily from his head and back. The two suspects, Dionisio and Bryan Cisneros, were located inside the facility.

According to witness statements, which corroborated the victim’s account, the two suspects allegedly attacked the victim as he was collecting his belongings in preparation to leave the property. Authorities noted the presence of blood on the floor, bloody T-shirts, and displaced furniture at the scene, indicating a struggle. One of the suspects reportedly had what appeared to be blood on his face.

The victim was transported to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon, where medical staff confirmed that he required stitches to his head and back. Hospital officials stated that the wounds were consistent with injuries caused by a knife or other sharp object. Fortunately, the injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.

Following their arrest, Dionisio Cisnero Cisneros and Bryan Javier Cisneros were taken to the Monroe County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
