CNN’s Jake Tapper Drops Bombshell: Exposes Media Democratic Leanings

In a candid discussion on “The Remnant” podcast, CNN anchor Jake Tapper conceded that the press has, for years, advanced the interests of the Democratic Party. This admission comes as Tapper faces scrutiny for his new book, “Original Sin,” which delves into former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and an alleged cover-up during his presidency, a period during which Tapper himself acknowledges insufficient reporting on the issue.

During his conversation with host Jonah Goldberg, Tapper agreed with the premise that the media’s investigation into former President Biden’s cognitive decline would have been “significantly more” robust had he been a Republican, or if President Donald Trump had been a more establishment Republican figure.

“I don’t disagree with your general premise,” Tapper stated, adding, “And I think it’s unfortunate that a lot of the press criticism and journalism — and most known journalism professors out there — have been saying since the Bush years that it is the responsibility of journalists to basically take up the Democratic cause… the Democratic Party cause. And I think that’s unfortunate.”

However, Tapper also suggested that the issue is more intricate than simple partisanship, citing “groupthink” and “intimidation” as contributing factors. While admitting the press might have been tougher on Biden if he were facing a figure like Mitt Romney, he also noted the media’s perceived unfairness to Romney in 2012, concluding that “it’s all very complicated.”

Further addressing his own reporting on Biden’s health, Tapper, who claims not to have voted for either Biden or Trump and “can’t stand either party,” attributed his softened coverage to being misled. “What was shaping my reporting was, I think, the fact that, like, there were just a lot of people lying to us,” he said. “And I should have just been more skeptical about the fact that they were lying to us.”

The release of “Original Sin,” co-authored with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, has reignited discussions about Biden’s health during his time in office, reportedly revealing private concerns among his aides about his fitness for a potential second term.

In a fiery response following a belated Memorial Day event in Delaware Friday, former President Joe Biden directly addressed questions about his mental and physical acuity. Mocking the claims and appearing to challenge the book’s authors, Biden asserted, “You can see that I’m mentally incompetent and I can’t walk and I can beat the hell out of both of them.”

Biden also challenged internal party dissent regarding his re-election bid, asking, “Why didn’t they run against me then? Because I’d have beaten them.” He maintained that he had “no regrets” about his presidency.

Emphasizing the gravity of the current global landscape, Biden stated, “There’s a lot going on and I think we’re at a really difficult moment. Not only in American history, but in world history.” He added, “I put my record as president against any president at all.”

The former president also provided an update on a recent health diagnosis, announced two days prior to the book’s release. He revealed on May 18 that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones on May 16. “It’s all a matter of taking a pill, one particular pill,” Biden explained, expressing optimism about beating the cancer as it was “not in any organ” and his “bones are strong.”
