TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa residents and visitors are advised to prepare for major traffic delays this coming weekend, from Friday, June 6th, through Sunday, June 8th, as two major events converge around the city’s premier sporting and entertainment venues: Steinbrenner Field and Raymond James Stadium.

The weekend promises a unique blend of America’s favorite pastime and heavy metal thunder, creating a perfect storm for traffic congestion. On Friday, baseball fans will flock to Steinbrenner Field to watch the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Marlins in a 1:10 PM game.

Simultaneously, “Metallica fans enter… Sandman,” as the legendary band kicks off their M72 World Tour at Raymond James Stadium with a 6:00 PM show. Drivers should anticipate considerable overlap and congestion as baseball attendees depart and concertgoers arrive in the vicinity of both venues.

Saturday offers a brief reprieve, with no concert scheduled. However, the traffic scenario is expected to repeat on Sunday, June 8th. The Rays will play an early game at 12:10 PM, followed by Metallica’s second performance at Raymond James Stadium, again at 6:00 PM. Similar traffic conditions are expected between the conclusion of the baseball game and the start of the concert.

To mitigate the anticipated gridlock, a heavy law enforcement presence will be deployed at both Steinbrenner Field and Raymond James Stadium on Friday and Sunday to direct traffic and manage flows. Drivers are strongly encouraged to exercise extra caution when traveling near these venues, adhere to all posted signage, and consider alternative routes or public transportation options if possible.
