PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) today announced a comprehensive new vision aimed at revolutionizing its academic programs and significantly enhancing student retention. This forward-thinking initiative embraces collaborative structures, leverages cutting-edge technology, and prioritizes a holistic student experience in the rapidly evolving higher education landscape.

At the heart of this transformation are the newly implemented Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Slate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. These powerful automation and AI tools are set to streamline processes, improve communication, and ultimately foster greater student success.

“We are endeavoring into a best practice of using patterns and analysis of how to help students with the new CRM and manage our curriculum offerings with a new mindset of expansion and communications across the college community,” stated Tom Hull, Vice President of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning, and Chief Information Officer at PHSC.

The initial phase of this vision introduces a re-organized structure, a renewed emphasis on college-wide collaboration and governance, and strategic exploration of how to maximize the ERP and CRM systems to effectively promote new academic programs and bolster student retention.

A key advantage of the integrated ERP and CRM systems is their ability to create a centralized information hub for all new academic programs. This will ensure that all relevant details, including curriculum, faculty, and admission requirements, are easily accessible. Furthermore, the systems will automatically notify faculty, staff, and students about new programs through integrated communication tools.

PHSC faculty and administrative leadership will also be empowered to facilitate targeted marketing campaigns for new academic offerings. By analyzing student data, the college can identify potential candidates and tailor messaging through multi-channel campaigns, including personalized emails and direct communications based on academic history. Social media integration will further broaden reach and engage prospective students.

To gauge interest in cutting-edge programs, PHSC will implement robust feedback mechanisms. This includes conducting surveys and polls to gather student opinions on proposed programs and improvements, and organizing focus groups with students and faculty to discuss the relevance and appeal of new offerings.

Beyond program promotion, PHSC has developed a comprehensive plan to enhance student retention through personalized communication, engaging initiatives, and continuous improvement. The college will utilize the new systems to send advising alerts to academic advisors when students are at risk of dropping out, enabling timely intervention. Students will also receive regular updates on their academic progress and access to available resources.

Engagement initiatives will also play a crucial role in boosting retention rates. The ERP system will be used for event management, promoting workshops and seminars related to emerging programs and academic success. Additionally, the college aims to foster community building by creating online forums or groups based on cohort demographics, allowing students to connect, share experiences, and support one another.

To ensure the effectiveness of these strategies, PHSC will continuously assess and refine its approaches. This will involve regularly analyzing data from the new technology to identify trends in student retention and program success, and establishing a cycle of iterative feedback where student input is regularly sought and used to refine communication strategies.

“We are very focused on innovating at PHSC regarding new academic programs and our new student retention structure is essential for the growth and sustainability of all of our educational institutions,” Hull emphasized. “The PHSC vision is to leverage new leadership and immersive adoption of tools to provide personalized services, automation and the comprehensive capabilities of the ERP and CRM coming up. The college is creating a cohesive communication strategy that not only informs but also engages and retains students.”
