NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that the individual wanted in connection with a hit-and-run accident that severely injured a 21-year-old American pedestrian in Nashville on May 18, 2025, is an illegal alien from Venezuela.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for the suspect, identified as Tony Gebian Lopez Infante, who remains at large.
The incident occurred as Zach Carach, visiting Nashville from Florida to celebrate his 21st birthday, was allegedly struck by a vehicle driven by Lopez Infante. Carach sustained severe injuries in the collision, and the driver reportedly fled the scene.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a strong statement regarding the incident.
“An illegal alien who should never have been in the U.S. allegedly struck a young man who was celebrating his 21st birthday in a hit-and-run crash and is still at large. The Biden Administration released this illegal alien into our country in 2023,” McLaughlin stated. “This crime was preventable and is the direct result of open border policies that prioritized illegal aliens over the safety of American citizens.”
According to DHS, Lopez Infante illegally entered the United States on August 1, 2023, and was subsequently released into the country on August 14, 2023, pending removal proceedings. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal for Lopez Infante on September 25, 2024.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Lopez Infante’s whereabouts or any suspicious criminal activity to contact 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423). Anonymous tips can also be reported via the toll-free ICE tip line or through their online form.
