The White House is demanding accountability from ABC News after national correspondent Terry Moran launched a scathing, since-deleted attack on White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller on social media.

The incident has ignited a firestorm, drawing condemnation from the White House and prominent figures who are questioning the network’s journalistic standards.

Early Sunday morning, Moran posted a rant on X, labeling Miller “a world-class hater.” The tweet was swiftly deleted, but not before a screenshot was captured and shared by the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt minced no words in her response, stating, “Last night, in a since-deleted post, so-called ‘journalist’ @TerryMoran went on a rampage against Stephen Miller and called President Trump ‘a world-class hater.’ This is unhinged and unacceptable. We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable.”

Vice President JD Vance echoed the White House’s outrage, posting the screenshot of Moran’s tweet and calling it an “absolutely vile smear of Stephen Miller. It’s dripping with hatred.” Vance urged the public to “Remember that every time you watch ABC’s coverage of the Trump administration.”

Defending Miller, Vance continued, “As it happens, I know Stephen quite well. And he’s motivated by love of country. He’s motivated by a fear that people like Terry Moran make rules that normal Americans have to follow, but well-connected people don’t. It’s why he fought so hard to get President Trump elected and why he works to [sic] hard to implement the agenda. ABC should apologize to Stephen. What Terry posted is disgraceful.”

This is not the first time Moran has waded into controversial territory regarding the Trump administration. He previously demanded that then-President Trump call El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele to facilitate the return of alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. Abrego Garcia has since returned to the U.S. to face human trafficking charges in federal court.

The incident further highlights the contentious relationship between the corporate media and the Trump administration. ABC recently settled a major defamation lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump. The lawsuit stemmed from “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos calling Trump a “rapist” during an interview with Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina.

The White House’s call for ABC to hold Moran accountable is likely to intensify the ongoing debate about media bias and the role of journalists in political discourse, particularly on social media platforms. As of Sunday morning, ABC News had not yet issued a public statement regarding Moran’s deleted tweet or the White House’s demands.
