MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old Oakland Park man was arrested Saturday evening after being clocked at 90 mph and observed recklessly passing other vehicles on U.S. Highway 1 in Islamorada. The dangerous driving prompted multiple vehicles to take evasive action to avoid collisions.
Amrit Boodoo was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office and charged with reckless driving.
According to reports, Boodoo was driving a Cadillac SUV when he was stopped by law enforcement near Mile Marker 86 at approximately 8 p.m.

Deputies saw Boodoo not only exceeding the speed limit significantly but also unlawfully utilizing the center turn lane to dangerously overtake multiple vehicles. This maneuver forced several other drivers to swerve sharply, narrowly averting head-on collisions.
Following the stop, Boodoo was arrested and transported to jail.
