More than a year after Florida lawmakers gave their official blessing, “parrotheads” across the Sunshine State are finally nearing their chance to cruise with a little piece of paradise on their bumpers.
The highly anticipated Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville specialty license plate has officially met its pre-sale voucher requirement, paving the way for its widespread release to county tax collector offices.
This means the days of purchasing pre-sale vouchers are over for this particular plate.

Fans eager to show their love for the laid-back lifestyle won’t have to wait much longer, as the plates are expected to be shipped to county tax collector offices within the next four to five months. While a precise delivery date is still being firmed up, the countdown to “License Plate Latitude” has officially begun.
Currently, the state is preparing for the initial order of plates.
During this manufacturing and shipping phase, the license plate’s sales status code will temporarily change from “P-Authorized for Pre-Sale” to “D-De-Authorized.” This temporary change is purely administrative, designed to ensure an adequate supply is produced before distribution.
Once the plates are shipped and arrive at county tax collector offices, the status will revert to “A-Authorized for Sale.”

At that time, personalized and amateur radio versions of the Margaritaville plate will also become available for order. Following the initial shipment, offices will be able to place additional orders as needed to meet demand.
For devoted Jimmy Buffett fans, this news marks the culmination of a patient wait. Soon, Florida’s roads will be a little more colorful, echoing the relaxed, good-time vibes that the Margaritaville brand has come to embody. So, get ready to trade in your worries for a little bit of island time, as these specialty plates are almost here.
