A Florida man was cited in the early hours of Tuesday morning for multiple alleged lobster violations after being observed diving near a bridge in the Lower Keys.
Kevin Knight Bowers, 34, of Webster, was encountered by Lower Keys Deputy Ross Hughes near Mile Marker 18 at approximately 12:30 a.m. Deputy Hughes saw Bowers actively diving and subsequently found him in possession of an out-of-season lobster.
Further investigation by Deputy Hughes revealed additional alleged infractions, including failing to have a measuring device and the absence of a required diver-down flag.

Bowers was issued a mandatory notice to appear in court to address the citations. The specific penalties for such violations can include significant fines and potential forfeiture of equipment.
Authorities remind all divers and recreational fishermen of the importance of adhering to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) regulations, which are in place to protect marine life and ensure sustainable fishing practices. These regulations include strict seasons for various species, size limits, and safety requirements such as the use of diver-down flags.
