A 51-year-old Pennsylvania man is charged with stabbing a 12-year-old boy in the neck, with a box cutter at a McDonald’s.
Sources say the child, who is white, was waiting in line with three of his family members when Turner approached him from behind and stabbed him in the neck before fighting with the family members.
When police arrived Charles Edward Turner, 51, yelled to police and McDonald’s staff, calling them “white N——,” “white satan,” and “white devils”, as officers and witnesses tried to get him under control following the attack on the child, according to a criminal complaint.
According to the document, Turner punched one officer in the face and kicked and punched another, and continued to fight as witnesses tried to assist the police. As the officers searched Turner for any weapons, he allegedly kneed one cop in the face and continued to kick at them.
Witnesses who questioned Turner after the attack told police he said “he only wanted to finish his coffee and then leave the restaurant,” according to the affidavit.
51-year-old Turner was arrested and charged with attempted homicide, four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, and resisting arrest, according to Pittsburgh Police.
Pittsburgh police are consulting with the FBI to determine if a stabbing at a downtown McDonald’s restaurant over the weekend was a hate crime according to CBS Local in Pittsburgh.
The 12-year-old boy has been upgraded to stable condition.
Turner is being held at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
