Boosting Your Self Care

For a few years now, the term “self-care” has been bandied about the internet. Depending on what you read, it could be anything from advice for a crabby mother in need of some me-time to a soul-searching path of self. Most people fall somewhere in the middle.

Here, we look at some ideas to help you to concentrate on yourself and make sure that you are always pouring from a full jug.

Look after yourself physically

You have heard the expression “a healthy body, a healthy mind – well, it is more than true. When you keeping your body in the best possible condition, it really is much easier to find your harmony. Mediation and Yoga are excellent techniques for helping you connect with your body on a profound level.

It is also important to think about what you put into your body. A diet packed with all the vitamins and nutrients that you need, perhaps with an extra boost through mobile IV therapy, and not consuming drugs, alcohol, or tobacco will all go a long way to making sure you feel great, inside, and out.

Look after your mental health

Many self-care books will tell you to unwind, practice meditation, and try to focus on the present. These are all excellent methods for soothing an anxious or overwhelmed mind. However, it can be thrilling for some people to mentally challenge themselves. If this describes you, learning a new skill can be far more advantageous. Modern life is frequently hectic, but it is also incredibly dull.

We often do not get the opportunity to pursue our passions or exercise our minds on an academic level. You don’t have to get a Doctorate to challenge yourself; instead, try an online program or a book in an area of study that is unfamiliar to you.

Switch off

Many of us live our lives entirely online. According to research, the average American adult checks their phone at least 150 times per day. In an ideal world, we would all be able to ignore tech for a few days, if not longer. However, because of work, school, family, and the fact that at the moment we are in the middle of a pandemic, that is virtually impossible for many people. However, if you can put down your cell phone or device for an hour or two every so often, that is a start. Eventually, you may be able to work up to longer periods of time without being connected to your device.

Indulge in mindfulness

We all know that modern life is stressful. We are constantly driven by the desire to be doing something. There just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. When we try to slow down, we are constantly preoccupied with things we believe we should be doing. However, indulging in a spot of mindfulness now and then, where you focus on nothing else but the present moment and how you feel, is great for relaxing both the body and the mind.
