Two members of the Asian Boyz gang have been sentenced in federal court in Boston for their involvement in a drug trafficking operation that distributed thousands of counterfeit Adderall pills laced with methamphetamine. The investigation revealed that the gang members had a significant supply of these fake pills, which closely resembled legitimate Adderall.

Erickson Dao, also known as “Silent,” 32, of Lowell, received a sentence of 85 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release. He had previously pleaded guilty in January 2025 to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Bill Phim, also known as “Bonez,” 37, also of Lowell, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. In February 2025, Phim pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and two counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

A lengthy investigation uncovered that members and associates of the Asian Boyz gang allegedly had ready access to a large quantity of counterfeit pills marketed as Adderall. These pills were designed to mimic the appearance of genuine Adderall in shape, size, and color. Over twelve separate occasions in 2022, Phim sold these fake pills to an undercover agent, totaling over 10,000 pills for more than $36,000.

Dao was identified as a key supplier of the methamphetamine pills to Phim. Evidence showed that Dao delivered the counterfeit pills to Phim on at least five occasions between February and April 2022.

Phim then proceeded to sell these pills to the undercover agent for over $11,000. Subsequent chemical testing confirmed the dangerous composition of the pills, revealing they contained methamphetamine and caffeine. A search of Dao’s residence yielded thousands more counterfeit Adderall pills and a substantial amount of cocaine.

Further investigation revealed that Phim coordinated the supply of the counterfeit methamphetamine pills with other members and associates of the Asian Boyz gang, including Brian Gingras, also known as “Cheech.” Between May and September 2022, Gingras met with Phim before planned drug deals to personally deliver the pills. Gingras pleaded guilty in January 2025 and is scheduled for sentencing on June 4, 2025.

The sentencings were announced by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, Kimberly Milka, and Lowell Police Superintendent Gregory C. Hudon.
