BARTOW, Fla. – A 51-year-old Bartow man, Nathan Cagle, found his pleas for leniency ignored on Thursday evening as Polk County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended him on an active warrant, leading to a host of new charges.
Cagle, who was wanted for Fleeing to Elude, Trespassing, and Resisting, was taken into custody after a brief struggle during which he allegedly attempted to dispose of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The incident unfolded on Thursday evening when Deputy Nason, while patrolling the area of Bomber Road and Spruce Road northeast of Bartow, recognized a white pickup truck known to be driven by Cagle at a residence the wanted man was known to frequent. Deputy Nason, opting for a direct approach, decided to stop and confront Cagle.
As Deputy Nason approached, Cagle reportedly spotted the deputy and allegedly threw a glass meth pipe to the ground, attempting to smash it with his foot. He then allegedly discarded a baggie containing methamphetamine in an apparent attempt to avoid detection.

Despite Cagle’s “best efforts to resist,” Deputy Nason successfully placed him in handcuffs. During the struggle, Cagle was overheard pleading with the deputy, “Come on man, let me flush that (stuff), I don’t need any more (flipping) charges!”
Nathan Cagle was subsequently arrested on his outstanding warrant and transported to the Polk County Jail. In addition to the existing charges, he now faces new counts of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Evidence, and Resisting an Officer.
