PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – A collision between a passenger vehicle and an electric bicycle early Sunday morning has left the bicyclist with life-threatening injuries, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:43 a.m. at the intersection of 49th Street North and Park Boulevard North. Responding officers arrived to find a crash involving a 2014 red Chevrolet Equinox and an e-bike.

Police say the Chevrolet Equinox was traveling westbound on Park Boulevard North and entered the intersection under a green traffic signal.
At the same time, the electric bicycle was traveling northbound, near the west sidewalk of 49th Street North. Investigators determined the bicyclist attempted to cross Park Boulevard North against the pedestrian control signal.
As the e-bike entered the intersection, it was struck by the front driver’s side of the Equinox.

The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
