CLEARWATER, Fla. – A written bomb threat discovered on an Allegiant Airlines flight at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) prompted an immediate evacuation and grounding of all airport traffic this afternoon.
At approximately 4:51 p.m., authorities were alerted to the threat, which was found in a bathroom aboard an Allegiant flight preparing for departure to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies from the Threat Management Division responded to the incident.
All passengers and crew members aboard the targeted Allegiant flight were safely evacuated from the aircraft, which was located on the tarmac. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Dogs, with the assistance of surrounding agencies, cleared all planes.
Following a thorough sweep, the bomb squad gave the all-clear, confirming that no explosive device was found on the Allegiant plane or anywhere else at the airport.

The incident led to the temporary grounding of all flights at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport for several hours, causing significant delays for travelers. However, airport officials have since confirmed that normal flight operations have resumed.
Detectives assigned to the Threat Management Division are currently investigating the source of the written bomb threat. No further details about the nature of the threat or potential suspects have been released at this time.
