MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Two individuals were cited in separate incidents Saturday for alleged wildlife violations in the Middle and Upper Florida Keys, according to reports from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
In the Middle Keys, Marine Deputy Willie Guerra was on routine patrol near Mile Marker 61.5 at approximately 2 p.m. when he encountered Pedro Abel Rodriguez San Roman, 53, of Miami, Florida. Rodriguez San Roman was allegedly found in possession of three queen conch.

Due to the violation, he was issued a mandatory notice to appear in court citation.
Meanwhile, in the Upper Keys, Islamorada Marine Deputy Jason Farr was on patrol near Mile Marker 81 around 12:30 p.m. Deputy Farr observed two juveniles spearfishing in a restricted area.
Upon investigation, authorities discovered two speared hogfish, one speared red grouper, and one speared yellow jack. Ryan Charles Tolson, 46, of Bradenton, Florida, identified as the captain of the vessel, took responsibility for the violations. Tolson was subsequently given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation.

Both cases underscore the ongoing efforts by marine deputies to enforce wildlife protection regulations in the sensitive ecosystem of the Florida Keys.
