SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has announced an arrest in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on June 10 at a convenience store on Honore Avenue in Sarasota.
Denzel Alejandro Hernandez Cuevas, 19, of Bradenton, has been charged with armed robbery following an investigation and inter-agency collaboration.

The incident unfolded on June 10 at approximately 4:54 a.m., when a 911 caller reported a robbery in progress at a convenience store on Honore Avenue. The store cashier provided a description of the suspect, detailing a Hispanic male wearing a mask and armed with an AR-15 rifle, who demanded money before fleeing the scene.
Through diligent investigative work, SCSO detectives identified Cuevas as a person of interest. Later the same day, the Holmes Beach Police Department (HBPD) conducted a traffic stop and successfully detained Cuevas, who was driving alone in his vehicle.

Following his detention, the SCSO issued an arrest warrant for armed robbery, and Cuevas was subsequently transported to the Manatee County Jail.
The SCSO commended the coordinated efforts of its Patrol and TAC Units, and the Criminal Investigations Section (CIS), along with crucial assistance from the Holmes Beach Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
