BRANDON, Fla. – Drivers who regularly use the eastbound Selmon Expressway (SR 618) ramp (Exit 15A) to access southbound I-75 will need to plan alternate routes this week.

The ramp will be temporarily closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Wednesday, May 14, and continuing through Friday, May 16, weather permitting, according to transportation officials.

The closure is necessary to facilitate ongoing concrete pavement repairs on I-75 between Progress Boulevard and Woodberry Road in Hillsborough County. This work is part of a larger project aimed at improving the condition and safety of this heavily traveled stretch of interstate.

During the overnight closures, eastbound Selmon Expressway motorists intending to travel south on I-75 will be required to follow a clearly marked detour.

The designated detour route involves exiting the Selmon Expressway at Exit 13 (US 301). Motorists should then turn right onto US 301 and proceed south until they reach the entrance ramp for southbound I-75.

Electronic message boards will be strategically placed along the Selmon Expressway to guide drivers through the area, and additional signage will clearly indicate the closure and the detour route.

Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution when driving through the work zone and to remain vigilant for the presence of construction workers.
