TAMPA, FL. – A man walking across Hillsborough Ave around 5:50 am on Sunday, was hit and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene.
On Tuesday, the car involved was located abandoned at a McDonald’s parking lot just east of the crash scene on Hillsborough Avenue, near Lois Avenue.
Troopers say that while recovering the hit and run vehicle this afternoon, the owner and driver of the suspect vehicle arrived on-scene and provided information to Troopers that led to the arrest of 25-year-old Christopher Xavier Cardenas Alvelo, of Apopka, Florida.
Cardenas Alvelo was arrested and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail for Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving a Death.
