CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists in Citrus County should brace for upcoming traffic impacts as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced a series of lane closures for the week of June 15-21, 2025. These closures, affecting US 19 and SR 44, are part of ongoing construction and maintenance projects in the area.

Drivers utilizing US 19 from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail can expect periodic day lane closures from Monday, June 16, through Saturday, June 21, between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, periodic night lane closures will be in effect along this stretch from Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 20, nights, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Commuters are advised to exercise caution and anticipate potential delays, especially during peak travel times.

A more significant impact is expected on SR 44 from US 41 to the Sumter County line (specifically the bridge over the Withlacoochee River). This section will experience around-the-clock lane closures beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 16, and continuing until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20.

This continuous closure will likely cause significant detours and increased travel times for those who regularly use this route. Motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes or adjust their travel plans accordingly.

FDOT urges all drivers to remain vigilant, observe posted signage, and reduce speeds when approaching and navigating through construction zones. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
