WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The City of Winter Haven has enacted a local burn ban, effective today, April 16, 2025, due to extremely dry conditions increasing the risk of brush fires throughout the area.
The decision follows a recommendation from Winter Haven Fire Chief Drew Neubrand. By implementing this measure, the City of Winter Haven officially opts into the existing Polk County countywide burn ban.

Officials cited the prolonged dry spell across Polk County as the primary reason for the ban, emphasizing the heightened danger of brush fires starting and spreading rapidly under current conditions.
Residents are urged to comply with the ban to help prevent potentially dangerous fires during this period of high risk.
