Clearwater Man Charged In Child Sexual Battery Case Involving HIV, Incident Occurred In St. Petersburg

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Clearwater man on charges of sexual battery of a child.

The arrest follows an investigation initiated in August 2024.

Bobby McAffee, 62, of Clearwater, was taken into custody on Saturday, May 30, 2025. He is charged with one count of Sexual Battery of a Child Less Than 12 Years Old.

The investigation began on August 23, 2024, when a male victim reported a sexual battery that occurred when he was 8 years old in St. Petersburg. According to detectives, the victim stated that McAffee pinned him to the ground and held his arms above his head during the assault.

During an interview with detectives on May 30, 2025, McAffee reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with the victim. Authorities also learned that McAffee has tested positive for HIV, and the victim recently discovered he is also HIV positive.

McAffee has been transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
