HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles on southbound Interstate 75 in Hernando County early this morning has shut down the interstate, causing significant traffic delays. One driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the crash occurred around 5:45 AM near the 294-milepost.

The incident began when a 2025 Dodge Ram 3500, driven by a 23-year-old Bainbridge, Georgia man, was traveling southbound at a low speed while towing a trailer loaded with sheet metal, metal tubing, and ladders.
A 2025 Toyota Camry, driven by a 25-year-old Dade City woman, was also traveling southbound and collided with the rear of the trailer and its extended load.

Immediately following this initial impact, a 2025 tractor-trailer, driven by a 54-year-old Alachua man, which was also traveling southbound, collided with the rear of the Toyota Camry. After striking the Camry, the tractor-trailer veered onto the outside shoulder, struck a guardrail, and overturned.
The drivers of the Dodge Ram and the tractor-trailer were not injured in the crash. However, the driver of the Toyota Camry sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
As a result of the crash, southbound I-75 remains closed at this time, with traffic being diverted at State Road 50. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and expect significant delays in the area.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Further details will be released as they become available.
