WESTCHASE, Fla. – A 13-year-old student at Davidsen Middle School was arrested today after bringing a knife onto school grounds. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office identified the student as Miguel Figueroa.
School administrators were alerted to the potential threat when they received a tip regarding a student possibly in possession of a weapon. Acting quickly, an administrative search was conducted, leading to the discovery of a knife in Figueroa’s backpack.
Figueroa has been charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon on School Property.

Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the student’s actions in a statement following the arrest.
“This type of behavior is dangerous and unacceptable,” said Sheriff Chronister. “We take every threat to school safety seriously, and I commend the swift actions of school staff and our deputies to ensure no one was harmed. Our priority will always be protecting our students and maintaining a safe learning environment.”
