CLEARWATER, Fla. – Nine residents are without their homes after an early morning fire at a residential building located at 1513 S. Washington Ave., according to the Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department.
Firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 1 a.m. after receiving a call reporting the blaze. Upon arrival, crews worked swiftly to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the residents or first responders.

However, the fire caused significant damage, leading to the displacement of nine individuals. The American Red Cross is reportedly assisting those affected with temporary housing and other immediate needs.
Following an investigation by both Clearwater Fire & Rescue and the Clearwater Police Department, the cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental. Investigators concluded that the fire was ignited when a candle was inadvertently knocked over.
