The wife and five children of Mohamed Soliman, the suspect in Sunday’s antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado, have been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and could face deportation.
The White House confirmed their detention, stating they are in “ICE custody for expedited removal.”
“Six One-Way Tickets for Mohamed’s Wife and Five Kids. Final Boarding Call Coming Soon,” said the White House Tuesday on X.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the family’s apprehension, assuring the public that Soliman would be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

However, Secretary Noem also revealed that his family is under investigation to determine “to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack, if they had any knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that Mohamed Soliman, a 45-year-old Egyptian national, overstayed his visa.
According to Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at DHS, Soliman entered the country in August 2022 on a B2 visa that expired in February 2023, and he filed for asylum in September 2022.
The FBI has stated that Soliman used a “makeshift flamethrower and threw an incendiary device into the crowd” during a pro-Israel event organized by “Run for Their Lives.”

The attack injured 12 people. “Run for Their Lives” is a group advocating for the return of Israeli hostages held by Hamas since the October 7, 2023, attack on a Jewish music festival in Gaza.
Reports indicate that Soliman was heard yelling “Free Palestine” during the attack. He reportedly told law enforcement that “he wanted to kill all Zionist people and wished they were all dead.”
Authorities found “at least 14 unlit Molotov cocktails and a backpack weed sprayer, potentially containing a flammable substance,” nearby, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Colorado.
Soliman faces multiple felony charges in addition to a federal hate crime charge. He is currently being held in the Boulder County Jail on a $10 million bond and could face hundreds of years in prison if convicted on all charges.
