TAMPA, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed in a vehicle crash early Friday morning at the intersection of N. 50th Street and E. 23rd Avenue, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene around 5 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male pedestrian who had sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was standing in the northbound lanes of N. 50th Street near E. 23rd Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver reportedly attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but was unsuccessful.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the crash and is cooperating with investigators.
All northbound lanes of N. 50th Street were temporarily closed while police conducted their investigation, causing traffic delays in the area. The roadway has since reopened.
