LAKELAND, Fla. – A recreational vehicle (RV) fire on Combee Road in Lakeland tragically resulted in one fatality today, Saturday, May 31, 2025. Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) crews responded to the blaze around noon, discovering the RV fully engulfed in flames.
PCFR was dispatched to the scene at 11:52 a.m. for what was reported as a working structure fire. Upon arrival, emergency responders found an RV intensely burning, with initial indications of a person potentially trapped inside.

Firefighters rapidly worked to extinguish the inferno, and upon bringing the fire under control, confirmed one fatality within the vehicle.
No other injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and no individuals were transported from the scene for medical attention.
The circumstances surrounding the fire are currently under investigation. The Florida State Fire Marshals Office and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office have taken over the investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the details surrounding the tragic loss of life.
