FDOT Announces Upcoming Roadway Impacts In Hernando And Citrus Counties

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is advising motorists of upcoming lane closures, flagging operations, and a long-term intersection impact across Hernando and Citrus Counties. These traffic modifications are scheduled to commence as early as Tuesday, May 27, 2025, as part of ongoing construction and maintenance projects.

Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly, anticipate potential delays, and exercise increased caution in these areas.

Hernando County Impacts:

  • US 98 / SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) from east of Mondon Hill Rd / Spring Lake Highway to Lockhart Road:
    • Lane closures Tuesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 31, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
  • SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) / SR 50 A (W Jefferson Street) / Cobb Road Intersection:
    • One lane will be closed in each direction approaching and through the intersection 24 hours per day through approximately mid-June 2025. Motorists should expect significant delays and adjust their travel times.
  • SR 50 (Cortez Blvd) from Ridge Manor Boulevard to Riverland Clay Sink Road:
    • Day periodic flagging and brief traffic stops: Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Night periodic flagging and brief traffic stops: Tuesday, May 27 through Thursday, May 29 nights, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Citrus County Impacts:

  • US 19 from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail:
    • Periodic day lane closures: Tuesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 31, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    • Periodic night lane closures: Tuesday, May 27 through Thursday, May 29 nights, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • US 41 from SR 44 to south of the bridge over the Withlacoochee State Trail:
    • Lane closures and flagging operations: Wednesday, May 28 and Friday, May 30 nights, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • US 41 from E Grace Street to E Hill Street:
    • Lane closures: Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30 nights, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • SR 44 from US 41 to the Sumter County line (bridge over the Withlacoochee River):
    • Day lane closures: Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    • Night lane closures: Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30 nights, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • E Highland Boulevard from S Park Avenue to US 41:
    • Lane closures: Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30 nights, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

FDOT reminds all drivers to remain vigilant for construction workers and equipment, adhere to posted speed limits, and be prepared for changing traffic patterns.
