Taylor Ryan Hill, 27, of Jacksonville, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for mailing threatening communications, announced U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis Tuesday.

This federal sentence will run consecutively to the lengthy state prison sentence Hill is currently serving for a 2021 conviction on two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Hill pleaded guilty to the federal charge on December 3, 2024.

According to court documents presented during the case, Hill was incarcerated at Hardee Correctional Institution in Bowling Green when he mailed a threatening letter on February 12, 2024. The target of this letter was the Assistant State Attorney in Clay County who had successfully prosecuted Hill in his previous murder trial.

The letter contained explicit threats to have both the prosecutor and the judge who sentenced him killed.

The threatening communication was signed “Taylor Ryan Hill” and was mailed in an envelope bearing a return address that included Hill’s name, inmate number, and the address of Hardee Correctional Institution.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated this matter, working in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. Assistant United States Attorneys Rachel Lasry and Michael J. Coolican prosecuted the case.
