TAMPA, Fla. – A collaborative effort between the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and the Miami Police Department (MPD) resulted in the swift arrest of a murder suspect wanted in Miami.

Hillsborough County deputies quickly located the suspect’s vehicle, a key piece of information provided by MPD, backed into a driveway on the 11000 block of Nicklaus Circle in Tampa.
To maintain discreet surveillance and ensure the safety of all involved, deputies deployed a drone to monitor the situation while the Miami Police Department worked to finalize an arrest warrant for the individual.
Shortly after the warrant was successfully obtained, deputies observed the suspect, later identified as 60-year-old Juan Antonio Vera, exiting the garage and approaching the vehicle. HCSO deputies moved in decisively and took Vera into custody without incident.

“This arrest is a testament to the seamless collaboration between agencies,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chronister. “When someone is wanted for a violent crime, it becomes a priority for all of us regardless of jurisdiction. I’m proud of the quick, coordinated response by our deputies and the strong partnership we have with the Miami Police Department in holding dangerous individuals accountable.”
Vera was transported and booked into the Orient Road Jail, where he is currently being held pending extradition to Miami-Dade County to face the murder charges.
