POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Haines City man was taken into custody last week following a burglary in progress at a construction site in Poinciana. The suspect, identified as Bey Anfhorny Gonzalez Fernandez, was apprehended after a brief foot chase that ended at a nearby convenience store.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, detectives were alerted to a burglary in progress at a construction site at approximately 11:28 p.m. on May 7th. As deputies arrived on the scene, the suspect reportedly fled, disregarding deputies’ commands to stop.

The pursuit led deputies to a Citgo convenience store, where they caught up to Gonzalez Fernandez. Authorities stated that he continued to resist as deputies attempted to place him in handcuffs. Despite his resistance, deputies were able to secure him.
During the arrest, deputies discovered that Gonzalez Fernandez was in possession of a firearm. Further investigation also linked him to several other recent burglaries in the same area.

Gonzalez Fernandez faces a multitude of charges, including Trespassing on a Posted Construction Site, Petit Theft 1st Offense, Loitering and Prowling, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Armed Trespassing, Burglary of Dwelling (3 counts), and Resisting Officer without Violence (5 counts).
He was subsequently booked into the Polk County Jail.
