POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Haines City man, 38-year-old Elvis Davila, was arrested Wednesday morning following a tense standoff with U.S. Marshals and deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Davila, who was sought for violating federal probation, was ultimately taken into custody after initially barricading himself in his Greenlefe neighborhood home.

The incident began around 9:50 a.m. when two U.S. Marshals arrived at Davila’s residence to serve an arrest warrant for a violation of his federal probation. Davila’s probation stemmed from a 2018 incident in Missouri, where he was arrested for explosive materials and making threats.

According to authorities, when Davila initially answered the door, he was armed with a knife. He then retreated back inside his home, only to return to the door moments later, this time armed with two knives. Davila subsequently went back into the residence and refused to comply with commands to exit.

Multiple Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene to assist the Marshals. After a period of negotiation, and despite Davila’s threats of retaliation, law enforcement successfully took him into custody.

Elvis Davila was transported to the Polk County Jail. He faces new charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (multiple counts), threats against a public servant, and resisting arrest.
