Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney Arrested By Pinellas County Deputies On Child Porn Charges

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney was arrested today and is facing multiple felony charges related to the possession and transmission of child pornography, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

William Andrew Jones, 32, was taken into custody by detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit following an investigation that began last year. Investigators allege that Jones accessed and shared numerous files depicting child pornography.

The investigation started on July 30, 2024, after authorities received a tip that illicit files were being circulated online. Through what detectives described as “various investigative techniques,” William Andrew Jones was identified as the suspect. The files reportedly contained images and videos of juvenile females, aged between 6 and 10 years old, engaged in sexual acts.

Detectives interviewed Jones on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. According to deputies, Jones admitted to viewing and transmitting the illegal materials.

Following his admission, Jones was arrested on a warrant. He has been charged with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography, three counts of Transmission of Child Pornography, and two counts of Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor.

Jones was booked into the Orient Road Jail.

Records indicate that Jones has been employed with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office since 2021, serving as an Assistant State Attorney within the Felony Bureau, Trial Division E.
